AZ-03 More On (And I Mean "Moron") Shadegg's Credit Card

(This orginally appeared on my blog, Rum, Romanism and Rebellion.)

Back when I worked in Sam Coppersmith's campaign, we sent a volunteer to scope out Jon Kyl's headquarters opening. A few hours later, he came back to report to us on his findings. He was still wearing his name tag: it read "George Costanza."

I don't know which is worse, the fact that none of the folks at Kyl's office recognized the name, or the fact that I can't for the life of me remember "George's" real name.

That said, you might want to check out this follow up to yesterday's weird Shadegg credit card incident.

For those who don't know, a credit card from John Shadegg's campaign was found at a Democratic Party field office. Shadegg's folks claimed that a volunteer had left it there when he was purchasing a bumper sticker. Why a Shadegg volunteer would want a Obama sticker wasn't explainted.

The party thought this sounded weird. They looked through the records of who bought stuff and couldn't find the name of the volunteer who bought the sticker. They did find out, though, that there was a possible alias for the person who bought the sticker.

Being who I am, this is the part of the press release that struck me:

"Bryan Anderson’s" address is a near-match to Ryan Anderson’s. Every number in the street line of the address is one digit off.

Dude, you substituted "Bryan" for "Ryan"? How much cerebral fortitude does that take? If your phone rings, don't run to answer, because it ain't the MacArthur Foundation.

Geez.

I mean, every drunk wannabe comedian that has ever shouted "Summer of '69" at a Ryan Adams show has figured out that "Bryan" sounds almost like "Ryan." If that is the sum total of your cleverness, it's no wonder the Republican Party is in for such a stellar year.

So, here's my question: is it all that legal to be putting the wrong name on a federal disclosure form? Did Shadegg's campaign blow all that money on lawyers to clear this?

Too beautiful. Keep up the good work, gentlemen.
